Red Dreams

Bond faces a new predicament with weary eyes.
Every single day, he wakes up and takes one good look at the mirror, hoping to find some sanity left in him. It's one way to keep himself going when things have gone completely awry.
It's gotten to the point where the Manager asked him to remain in his room for today.
Bond Double-O
I could be working right now.
He says, knowing well he's unable to do anything else but sleep.
His room was cold. There were papers scattered on the table, notes he could care less about today. Not everything matters when your mind is clouded. By what? Bond couldn't put a finger on it.
So he says.
Bond slumps back into his bed. Clean as it may be, he knows he'll have to fold the sheets again when he's up and running. He furrows his eyebrows and dreams of velveteen red.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Thinkin' about me still?
No.
That's what he wanted to say at first.
How terrible that this keeps happening.
Bond finds himself in a field, but not one he recognizes at all. The sounds of bloodshed echo in his ears. Dreams tend to be strange like that, forming pieces from memories buried in the back of his mind.
And here the Capo looks at him, sitting calmly on a bench.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Gotta say, yer quite bold for having me here.
Bond Double-O
I...
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Speak, boy.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
There's so much ya want to say.
That gloved hand reaches for his own. Bond is afraid. He wants to resist.
The words spill out of his mouth anyway.
Bond Double-O
Why?
And his feelings pour out in the worst ways possible. He hates how this infatuation claws at him like a tiger.
Bond Double-O
Why couldn't it have worked out the way we wanted it to?
Bond Double-O
I wished to be with you. One more night. That was all I wanted.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Naw. Ya know damn well that ain't it.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
'nother night can pass, and...you'll be stuck, cravin' me like a cigarette.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Sad, ain't it? I wanted to see you too.
Bond Double-O
We could've been something else.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Naw, we couldn't have.
Bond Double-O
I could've convinced you.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Ehh, maybe.
Bond Double-O
Can't you leave? Can't you come with me now? You're...
He swallows, and takes it in. The faint scent of cigarettes.
Stages of grief flash through, like the throes of war.
Bond Double-O
You're with me right now, aren't you?!
Bond Double-O
Do something about it!
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Or what? You'll wake up?
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
This is just one more bad dream for ya.
Bond Double-O
Everything is bad because you're not here!
And this truth stings. He missed Lei Heng like a lover would.
He knows that chance will never be.
Bond approaches the Capo, one step forward. Another step, and another. But he stops, right in front of him.
The distance between them can never close.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
It fucking sucks.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Even now, yer out 'here refuing to face the music.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Someday though.
Bond Double-O
I don't want that day to come
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Well. That sucks even more.
Bond Double-O
I could die! I could walk down the corridors, lose it all...and...
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
And it won't do ya any good.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Sorry to say, pal. Yer sayin' shit.
Bond Double-O
...I know.
Even the touch of his sword against his neck would hurt less than his words.
Deep down, he doesn't want this dream to end.
But everything will pass soon enough.
With one draw of his pistol, Bond sighs.
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
I'll catch ya later, okay?
Lei Heng Capo of the Thumb
Always and forever.
And the last thing he ever sees before he's back to a cold world is that cocky smile he wished to see once more.
